THORNE CARVINGS

These are made from the Thorne that grows out of the back of a tree called Egungun, which can be fund in the rain forest. It can be removed from time to time. The Thorne is big and almost have a round shape but flat at the surface at which it attached to the tree.  Its tip is as sharp as a needle.

The Thorne grows in three different colours: white, light brown and dark brown. The Thorne carvers carve the Thorne with a very sharp knife. This is one of Yoruba folk arts to illustrate the Yoruba system of co-habitation.
