A cosmology of the apparently paradoxical unity of the sorrowful
and joyous. Two faces of the title are inscribed on the central
sphere floating in a pool of water disturbed by the pouring from
above. The bowl held by two hands of God represents the action of
the numeral on the phenomenal world. Seemingly a set destiny of
either sorrow or joy, the balance asserts that despite worldly appearances
destiny can change in a flash if one recognizes that the source
is in fact of a singular origin. The activities illustrated juxtapose
the condition of human recognition with the dynamic of becoming
conscious of what is not seen in the physical world. The flow of
human life calls for an expanded realization of this choice.
