Arugungu Festival has three major competitions enjoyed
by both participants and audience.
The wrestling competition encircled by the ring is
viewed by the Emir (king) who can be identified as the turbaned
figure (seated under the traditional huge umbrella) amongst the
people.
The referee holds a horn to his lips.
Within the figure of a duck Lake Swimmers try to catch
ducks.
Some dive and surface, others reach and all seek to
be the first to catch a duck and hold it up as winner.
A fish form frames the last competition: to catch
the largest and heaviest fish.
A weight scale can be found on the right side awaiting
the final measure of the victor's prize catch.
